Other ASL Gatherings

by Hawke Robinson last modified Sep 20, 2015 11:27 PM
Recently received an email asking about other Deaf/ASL related gatherings, specially non-study-group...

Question: " I am wondering if there are any other casual social
ASL chatting group or something in evenings.
I like to practice and keep up with signing, but weekend
afternoon is not very convenient for me. And I am looking
for something more like just chatting whatever by signing
type of gathering rather than study group."

Answer:  We also usually "just chat" towards the end of the session (around 3:00/3:30 to 4:00 pm), that's when we just discuss our lives, tell stories, etc. in sign.

We are now also having members of the Deaf community showing up semi-regularly as well to the study group.

Other gatherings include the once per month Deaf Coffee Chats once a month at the Starbuck's on the South Hill. That is on the 2nd Thursday of each month (tomorrow). It begins at 6:00 pm.

Additionally there is the Pizza Dinner at Round Table Pizza near Five Mile on the 2nd Wednesday of each month (including tonight). Near the corner of Maple and Francis (North West corner). It begins at 5:30 pm.

There are also various gatherings and events at the EWCDHH.org website (see the Calendar link).

Hope that helps, and hope you will consider at least dropping in for the latter part of our Saturday session, it would be great to have you there.
Cheers!
-Hawke
